Of course he falls in love with her and she finds out the real reason he had asked for her hand. After the heroine finds out about his Dastardly Plan we get like 1 page of groveling from him. Overall, it was an excellent and oc romance full of funny, sharp dialogue, and beautiful Regency-era descriptions.

The story moves along quickly, but not so quick that it makes it unbelievable. Aug 21, Lyuda rated it it was amazing Shelves: I enjoyed the very unusual position of Lady Mary but found her relationship with Black Jack unrealistic. As his sole heir, she inherited this estate affording her the freedom of independence so rare in a Cadice lady—and she rather likes it that way—since she believes that as an ugly, insignificant and unmarried lady hwart can do as she chooses.
And therein lies the rub. I really was liking this story however hewrt it was. Ano I realize that it’s not easy to write story about a plain-looking heroine and a handsome, rogue-ish hero.
The second instalment csndice the Hern’s Regency Rakes series features the most notorious rake – Jack, who by a massive bit of unfortunate events is now the heir. I think by the end of the book he was changed, it just took him a long time to get there and that was frustrating for me.
We will be reading all of her traditional Regencies over the next nine months, discussing her characters, plots and Regency history. Another marriage of convenience story, very well done. Jan 30, Charlene rated it really liked it.
This installment was even a better read than the first. Well, put it on your bucket list and, perhaps, we’ll compare notes someday. However, I think her back story is a bit far fetched. I am intrigued to read his plots and schemes as the novel progresses.
As they progress down her long list of possible young ladies, Lord Pemerton finds plausible reasons to eliminate many of them: A Change of Heart hearrt Candice Hern. I had never heard Hern until the challenge but have read cadice first three books.
To me, the hardest part is how to convince reader about the hero’s change of heart. None of this former-rake but I’m reformed stuff before he meets Mary.

Author Candice Hern has generously offered one print copy or one digital copy of A Change of Heart to one lucky winner. Two chapters to end the book and Jack was still discovering things.
The writing was also very good and changs made it easy to keep going. A Rogue’s Christmas Kiss. Women are in his bed. THe second romance between Olivia and Jack’s uncle also a nice touch. This was great fun. I always look at the art on the book cover and I loved this one.

He has realised the state candic his father’s affairs and they seem grim. Lady Pemerton was magnificent and helped her stubborn and self centered son to see above himself. Thanks for the giveaway!! The title should be at least 4 characters long. The end is really sweet, even if a bit rushed.

Of the trilogy I think I like this second story the best. Since she’s run away without talking to Jack a couple days before their wedding he is incredibly hurt and runs to london where he sleeps with everything in sight. Might be considered Spoiler Heary kept me reading Lady Mary Haviland is a 29 year old spinster, who considers herself comfortably on the shelf. Her bursting out into laughter got old but you realize she does it as a protection.
